Who is affected?
If you own property in the City of San Jose, and it falls into one of the following categories, then tenants who live in your property are protected by the Tenant Protection Ordinance (TPO), and you can not proceed with the normal eviction process:

Apartment with three or more residential units
Unpermitted cottage or converted garage
Guest rooms within a permitted boarding house
Three or more condos or townhomes within the same complex
If you own property in the City of San Jose, and it DOES NOT fall into one of the categories above, then you are not impacted by the TPO. You can proceed with the normal eviction process as stated here.
